Jim Speaks Out About IRA | Jim News

Up and coming young actor Jim Sturgess — who stars in the new informer movie 50 Dead Men Walking — has spoken about the “human side” of the IRA and how some of its members were “the nicest people” he’d ever met.

The Surrey-born actor, who plays double agent Martin McGartland in the movie, told how he was introduced to former members of the IRA, who acted as “chaperones” while filming took place in Belfast.

And he claimed they were “passionate people”, who weren’t just caught up in the IRA “for violence’s sake”.

Sturgess was speaking to Empire movie magazine ahead of the general release of 50 Dead Men Walking in April. The movie will also close the ninth Jameson Belfast Film Festival.

Sorry for being so late in posting these guys, I was so busy and I feel like I abandoned the site. I still remember JSF though and I’ll try to update as often as I can, especially that now Jim’s finally surfacing again.. (; Is it just me? I feel he’s kind of disappearing under the radar (and so am I) for the last 6 months or so.

Spiderman the musical open in 2010? | Jim News

While Jim’s whereabouts in the musical is still unknown, I’m still going to post things about Spiderman the musical.

The musical based on the comic book character Spider-Man, with music and lyrics by U2′s Bono and The Edge, will officially open on Broadway on February 18th, 2010, according to Billboard.com.
Preview performances for the show, which has the inexplicable title Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, will begin on January 16th. A theater and cast have yet to be officially announced, although actress Evan Rachel Wood has been saying publicly that she will play Spider-Man’s love interest, Mary Jane Watson. Director Julie Taymor has been holding readings of the script with Wood and actor Jim Sturgess, although it is not clear if Sturgess will land the title role.

Crossing Over.. | Jim News

Will open today (Friday, February 27th) in New York and Los Angeles. If you live there, go watch the movie and tell me about it.
I found some reviews and most of them aren’t nice (to the movie, not Jim). Send me your review, I’d love to know people’s opinions about the movie.

Here’s one from USA Today.

Crossing Over has hurtled into Crash territory, and the smash-up is not a happy collision.

In its tale of immigrants seeking citizenship and pursuing the American dream in Los Angeles, Crossing Over brings to mind that 2005 film, and its interweaving tales have a whiff of 2006′s Babel. But Crossing Over doesn’t come close to the power and emotional resonance of either.

While Crash’s intertwined story lines went in unexpected directions and Babel packed an emotional wallop, much of what occurs in Crossing Over is predictable and leaves the viewer unmoved.

The performances are often strong. Lesser-known actors such as Curtis, Sturgess and Summer Bishil (Towelhead) come across better than such veterans as Ford and Liotta. But nearly all characters are underdeveloped.
